Jeff Joad's songwriting is aimed squarely at the life and times of the common man. His songwriting uses the "dustbowl" heritage of greats like Steinbeck, Son House, Woody Guthrie & Pete Seeger. The story goes that Joad was gifted a 1932 National Duolian resonator that somehow transformed his musical direction. Asked for an explanation he simply replies, "My voice comes from somewhere else now."
