Forming in July 2001, drummer Joe Smith, guitarist Dave Pattenden, Johnny Ogle on lead vocals & blues harp and bassist Hugh Gilmour, were brought together by their love of Motörhead, MC5 and Pentagram. Guitarist Rich Groom joined in 2019.
Since 2004 Pig Iron has released five studio albums. They still remain the only band to have covered both Aleister Crowley and Laurel & Hardy.
