2000年代初頭より自身の名を冠したトリオ／オクテット／ビッグ・バンド、複数のヴォーカリストをフィーチャーしたThe National Jazz Trio Of Scotland等のリーダー作や、Maher Shalal Hash Baz、Yo La Tengo、Teenage Fanclub、Tenniscoats、The Pastels、Jad Fair、Deerhoof、Aidan Moffat (Arab Strap)、Isobel Campbell (ex Belle and Sebastian)、To Rococo Rotらとの数多くのコラボレーションで、ポスト・クラシカル、ジャズ、ポップ等いずれのジャンルにも収まらない独自のリリシズム溢れる音世界を披露してきたグラスゴー在住のコンポーザー／アレンジャー／マルチ・プレイヤー、ビル・ウェルズ。

そんなウェルズの日本限定リリース企画である「夢」シリーズ。各1分程の多彩な掌編12曲が組曲の様に構成され、2014年〜2019年にかけて「四季の夢」シリーズとして「夏」〜「秋」〜「冬」の順に発表され、各タイトルがロング・セールスを記録。

前作より5年ぶりとなる本作『Collected Dreams』は、タイトル通り「四季」の最終章「春」（Part 1 &2）、その後に制作された「2022」、「2023」の全四章（各12曲）をコンパイルしたスペシャル・アルバム。演奏は全てマルチ・プレイヤーであるウェルズ自身が手掛け、前3作に参加した2人のシンガー、アヴィとオードリーが歌唱を担当。四章ともに驚くほどカラフルな楽曲達が流れるように巧みなシークエンスで構成された、全48曲48分。

アートワークはこれまでの「夢」シリーズ同様に工藤冬里＆礼子（Maher Shalal Hash Baz）作品で知られる工藤波夫が担当。
