Chris A. Cummings AKA Marker Sterling continues to weave mellow and smooth masterpieces with an astonishingly high average, using his musicality that skillfully digests soul, AOR, soft rock, Brazilian music, etc., plus a tender voice that has been called the second coming of Robert Wyatt. Highly praised by fellow musicians such as Stereolab, Ben Watt, Kassin, Nicholas Krgovich, I Am Robot And Proud, LAKE, and many more. "Diamond Violence" is the first new album in two and a half years since the Sean O'Hagan (The High Llamas) produced "High January".

Produced by Zach G., his longtime partner from the old Mantler days, carefully made in his hometown Toronto. After French recording "I'm Willing" (2016), recorded in Toronto but consisting many self covers "Anchor & Ampersands" (2017), German recording "Trust An Amateur" (2018), and UK recording "High January", this is the first album of all new original songs produced in Toronto since "Rosy Maze" (2015).

With only exception Peter Zummo (trombone), a well-known collaborator of the late Arthur Russell, all recorded with his live band's members in Toronto featuring new duet partner Dorothea Paas, the result is more bouncy and groovy than ever. Another great collection of instant classics.

マントラー時代からの盟友ザック・Gのプロデュースにより地元トロントでじっくりと制作された本作。フランス録音『I'm Willing』（2016）、トロント録音なれどマントラー時代のリメイクを中心とした『Anchor & Ampersands』（2017）、ドイツ録音『Trust An Amateur』（2018）、UK録音『High January』と続いたため、トロント制作のオリジナル新録集としては、マーカー・スターリングへの改名後初のアルバム『Rosy Maze』以来実に7年ぶり。

ゲストは故アーサー・ラッセルのコラボレーターとして知られるピーター・ズンモ（トロンボーン）のみに抑え、気心の知れたトロントでのライヴ・バンドを全面起用することにより、かつてないほどに骨太でグルーヴィーな仕上がり。クリスと共にシャバソン＆ケルゴヴィッチ『At Scaramouche』にも参加、昨年発表のソロ・デビュー・アルバムも好評のドロシア・パースのコーラス・ワークも素晴らしい。70年代アメリカン・シネマを模したPVも最高なタイトル曲はじめ「インスタント・クラシック」な名曲揃い、新たな代表作の誕生。
