Liminal Drone by Alex Ringess

This new album goes deeper on tape looping exploration.
This time, tape loops are the essential part of the music.
The first track is made with 90% of tape loops on which I applied my usual tape effects strip.For this one, except for the basses and the leads or pad, all is tape loops.
And for the second track, it is 99%. Only the basses aren't tape loops.

Of course, I also wanted to stay on the same vibes than the two previous album so I applied the same effects chain and the same kind of mixing and mastering.

I have no clue of where all of that lead me from the artistic perspective, but I like it.

When you'll listen to this album, you'll hear some stuffs that seems to be there by design, but they're not. It was all happy accident. This is the magic of tape effects and tape looping, no matter if it's virtual tape effects and tape looping or reel-to-reel, when all these tools are used correctly they sound pretty much the same and provide the same kind of unpredictibility. So you'll hear some clicks that came from the "gap" between the start and the end of the tape, where they're suppose to be glued, some "reverb" that suddenly reversed themselve you don't know why, some cracks and clicks that come in rythm and looks like some addition of a discreet rythm patern but it is purely happy accident.
Track 2 (NYAD) is full of that, and it is way more the case for Track 1 Liminal Drone.
These happy accident aren't reproductibles most of the time which made the tracks and the album very unique.
I hope you'll enjoy it as I did when I produced it and heard all of that for the first time. It was an amazing sensation and I hope you'll get it the same way.
