Seasons by Yuka Kitamura and Alex Roe
Yuka Kitamura and Alex Roe present Seasons, a collaboration of easy listening and emotive compositions portraying each season. It's been a few years since we first talked about the idea of working together but in 2021 we were finally able to do it, and to my surprise it became a small album! I think now was the perfect time to do it and I hope everyone enjoys this album as much as we enjoyed writing it.
It's not the usual collaborative effort either. We first chose which were our favourite seasons: Kitamura chose Spring and Winter and I chose Summer and Autumn (although I think we had to discuss that a bit haha). It starts with Spring which Kitamura started and we passed the song back and forth like a relay. And I started Summer which we passed back and forth too. I wonder if you can tell who takes over from who? Then for the other two seasons we wrote the songs ourselves but tried to emulate the other persons style, so I tried to write an Autumn song in Kitamura's style and she wrote a Winter song in my style. I'm very proud of the result and it was a really fun way to work together, I would be very honoured to work together again some day.
