Lyrics
Oil of Oregano is an extremely important medicine for our current moment as it is used for humbling the ego via cutting through the superficiality of life and encouraging non-attachment to identity, material things, and people. Growing up on the road, I learned to let go of material things, people, and places on the regular. I know now that this comes from an ancient practice the nomadic people of the world share. One that has often meant burning things so that they can exist freely and in other dimensions.
When I was seven years old, my mother, sister and I lived with a group of buddhist monks while witnessing the materialization and destruction of a sand mandala. I will never forget what it felt like to be in that room and hear the chanting while the tiniest details were made one by one with the monks exhales through straws. I will also never forget how loudly me and my sister gasped and screamed when they threw the masterpiece into the sea. We cried out “Why?!!”, “Why would you do that?!?!” and then we were told and never forgot.
Later that year our car (our home), was broken into - the windows shattered, our dolls dismembered, our clothes pissed on, our valuables gone. And yet, we were ok. There was very little grieving as the wisdom we learned at the Buddhist temple hummed like the ocean within us. So we picked up the pieces and continued on down the river of life. Ever since, I have had very little trouble understanding when it is time to grab only what you need and go. As much as it is our human nature to stay in one place, it is in our nature to journey.
Everything is changing and always will. Take some oil oregano today and let me know how you feel.
