“Edou” pays homage to Althea’s first kora teacher, Edou Manga, with whom she began studying the instrument in 2011. Edou is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist of Jola descent currently based in Dakar, Senegal. “Edou,” honors its eponym through a lively mix of traditional and pop approaches to kora performance that is characteristic of Edou Manga’s playing. In addition to Althea SullyCole on kora, it features Rossyl Esdras Boussamba Linguissi on bass, Lanier Sammons on guitar and Jeffrey A. Jones on percussion.
