I sat on a rock at the end of the jetty
Listening to the waves as dusk fell.
Soon all was dark as the tide rolled in steady,
And I found myself under a spell.

The ocean's horizon became illumined
As that Yuletide Moon arose,
And as it appeared it seemed an illusion
Yet somehow it bestowed

A gift of hope for today,
A gift of hope for tomorrow.
The Yuletide Moon smiled down
On all the earth and saw a bright future
Coming soon.

When I got back home it was late at night.
I stayed to commune with the waves.
From the moon I'd received inner light;
My faith in humanity saved.
