Light by Anna Ling
Anna Ling is a Devon-based singer, composer and choir MD who self-produces and records DIY neo-choral, mythopoetic alt-folk from her yurt near the River Dart. Her music blends layered vocal harmonies, unusual rhythms, and raw, emotionally resonant songwriting.
The title Light is a nod to Joni Mitchell’s Blue - just as Mitchell wove the word “blue” through her songs, all but one of Anna’s tracks contain the word “light”.
Light is the central metaphor that threads throughout the album: a search for hope amidst the overlapping challenges of our times. Originally funded by a crowdfunder in 2022, Light is not only a creative milestone, but also Anna’s initiation into recording and producing.
