THOROFON, founded in 1995 by dan courtman, stands as a seminal force in german post-industrial and power electronics. renowned for uncompromising soundscapes and evocative live performances, the project confronts themes of societal decay, human conflict, and existential dread. merging rhythmic intensity and minimal electro with a wall of abrasive noise, thorofon forges a conceptually rich and fiercely expressive experience - often distilled into the notion of krankpop - that provokes, challenges, and endures.
with GUILTY, THOROFON descends into a stripped-down realm, wielding vintage hardware synthesizers and ritual recording methods to summon a raw, instinctive atmosphere. each track is captured in a single, fragile take, preserving the spectral immediacy of the moment. KNOCHENTANZ, thorofon’s first song with german lyrics, resonates as a dark, mesmerizing rite, echoing through memory’s hidden recesses.
