Fool's Gold from Different Stories by Anubis

'Fool's Gold' was the first single release from 'The Second Hand' and the most popular track on radio from our fourth LP.

The original track is a big epic sounding track - kind of like 'Clutching at Straws' era Marillion, and this arrangement meant stripping back everything to the guitar riff, which Anton subtly modified.

The drums were augmented by a whole host of shakers, tambourines and a frog-shaped woodblock that is impossible to miss in the mix; all arranged by Robert.

The solo at the end is played by Dean on a classical guitar.

Dougie also adds, for the trainspotters, quotes from 230503's 'Flying Falling' which harmonises with the arpeggios he already played in 'Fool's Gold' to sound positively ommadawn-ish.

For better or worse, all the moog lines were performed on a melodica. For that I can only ask for your forgiveness.
