Origami from Heart Things by April Cries

You didn’t come with instructions.
It’s all been guesswork up to now.
Paper hearts have funny functions,
but I think I’ve figured you out.

And just when I think it, I fold you the wrong way.
I don’t know what to say except the words that cut me.
“I’m sorry… Forgive me… I love you… No kidding.”
The words that cut do the most good and that’s enough.

There are no outlines or arrows.
It’s all been guesswork up to now.
Paper paths are straight and narrow,
but I think I’ve figured it out.

I’ve crumpled you up and I’ve torn your edges,
but I’ve grown you wings you can fly over ledges.
But you’ve done the same with me just as much.
To master interaction, gotta learn the touch.
