One of my hardest-hitting records, and one of the most consistent, both instrumentally (lots of big drums, loud twangy guitars, and zero keyboards) and lyrically (every one of the songs being somewhat comedic). Perhaps as a result, it became a fan favorite upon its original release in 2012.

For this project I needed a drummer with a big sound. Having attended school and gigged with Tobias Smith, reckoned he was the man for the job. Which indeed turned out to be the case. He keeps the record thundering along throughout and never lets up on the energy.

The LP also had the most backing vocals of any record I'd done up to that point, with excellent singers such as Aurora Cowie and Courtney Quebec doing some great work. Tobias also proved to be a powerful backing singer.

As well, he did me a big favor. In 2006 I played him what I thought was the completed album, and his reaction was, "Your singing is terrible!"

So I spent the next several years working with several vocal coaches, notably Michelle Minke, before re-doing the vocals, and eventually releasing the record - six years later than scheduled!

(By the time of its eventual release,the follow-up, "Golden Treasury", had already been written and mostly recorded.)

I would have been happy to work with Tobias again, but he had moved to the USA even before this LP was released.

However as one door closes, another often opens... And to fill the empty drum chair on the next record, "Golden Treasury", I ended up re-uniting with previous collaborator Scott Lucas.

I hope that people hearing this record for the first time will enjoy it, and pick up on the spirit of fun in which it was recorded!
