Omid اُمید by ariB and Bird Of Paradigm

“Omid”, meaning hope, is a collaboration between ariB and Bird of Paradigm (birdofparadigm.bandcamp.com). California Iranian freaks uniting in music. “Omid” is the product of a short but dense jam session. Discussions about Bandari music from the south of Iran (where ariB descends from), ambience, distortion, eastern yodel core(tahrir), and absurdity in music lead up to a mish mash of sampled sound, layered vocals, and collaborative intuitive production.

We layered several vocal tracks, taking turns harmonizing high and low. Bird of Paradigm explored oscillating cathartic throaty vocals at the crest of the song, inspired by tahrir and chah chah vocal styles. In the production, we used synths, sounds effects, and filters to mimic traditional instruments/trends while also diverging in digital distortion. Creating this together was an unexpected gem and we hope you sway with it in sensual complexity and catharsis.
