Grit! from Pixie Hollow by Asher Kai
A song that I wrote about the depth at which i experience writing songs. I've always communicated strongly through music; it is my special interest and my heartbeat. Being surrounded by musicians in my daily life gives me so much inspiration and power to communicate with other musicians through my music. I thought that to be the perfect intro to an album like Pixie Hollow.
Shout out to my lovely friend Violet Falkowski who originally inspired this song in me. The story goes like this:
In August of 2021 I was booked for my first ever live performance on a stage at Rednawa in Middletown CT (RIP Rednawa). One of my now friends who ran that venue was Violet, the bassist in the band Litvar and the face of her own band Violet and The Ghost. Another of my friends who ran Rednawa was Colin Anderson (check out the band Burnhole). After my set, Vi and Colin approached me asking "Can we be your band?" and then in november of 2021, we had a jam sesh where we recorded another of the songs on this album, You Didn't Hug Me. During my visit I sat on the floor in their living room playing unrecorded songs on my blue acoustic, and Violet described my sound as "earthy". That's what sparked the song Grit!, and ever since then I owe much of my growth and confidence, as a musician and a friend, to Violet. She's one of a kind. Another of the songs in this album, Narnia was recorded with and features Violet!
