Lyrics
I am hanging up posters
I am ridding my walls of their unwanted space
In the gaps, I squeeze pictures and postcards
To conceal every chip in the paint
I declare myself a collector
Of paintings and programs hung neatly in place
But I know my collection will grow in its time
So as I decorate, I’m saving space
I’m selecting my classes
I am counting my units and paying my dues
I will fill each and every requirement
And walk that stage on a distant day in june
I am filling up my schedule
With places to see and new things to do
But as I crowd my agenda and fill each line
Tell me why I still saved space in it for you
I can redecorate my whole entire bedroom
I can work myself to the brim
But as evening gives way into twilight
I find my facade wearing thin
I am meeting new people
And we‘re getting new places and falling in fast
And I’m trying to stay present
Although I find myself revisiting the past
I will try to forget you
And find someone to fill in your place
I might love someone else
But I’m killing myself pretending I‘m not saving space
I might love someone else, but if I’m honest with myself
I know that I‘m still saving space
