In spring '99 Paul invited Matt over to dinner and a jam in Bushwick. Matt wasn't sure how serious the dinner offer was so grabbed a slice on the way. Once at Paul's, Matt smelled the salmon and sensed Paul's annoyance at the slice-grabbing so ate a second dinner. The two went to the living room where a full drum kit and amp were set up. (The slumlord didn't mind). They jammed like that for years.
