Chicago neo-soul/R&B trio TheLoveofPpl. returns with an ultra-smooth care package of diversely soulful offerings, spanning genres from Afro-beats to old-school Chicago soul and just about everything in between. Made up of vocalists Blake Davis, Anai Akuei, and producer Blank Face Villain, TheLoveofPpl. are as forward-thinking as they are retro-reminiscent, a daring combo of old and new that is sure to find a sweet spot in the heart of any R&B-heads. Putting the emphasis on the blues in R&B, FLUX BLEUS is the ultimate reminder to take a breath, slow down, and just enjoy the music.
“FLUX BLEUS (translated to blue flows) is a story of time and maturation. Built with organic song structures evolved from our own introspection, our sonics were influenced by our history just as much as our ambition. From playfully dancing over syncopated Afro-beat rhythms, to rapping over reversed guitar samples, we put pieces of who we are, what we love, and where we want to go in one brilliant flow.”

Kicking off the 3 pack is the bouncy and intimate cut “INTENTIONS” that borrows the tonal percussion of island beats and perfectly vibe-inducing keys for a smooth and catchy opening track. Focus track “BLU SKIES'' is a slowed, reverberating banger. Featuring the syrupy voice of Davis sliding into a memorable hook, the song is further assisted by a verse from rising Brooklyn-based rapper G. King. Akuei ends the track with a bittersweet verse/outro that lingers long after the track’s runtime has terminated. Closing track “PRESENT TENSE” is a sleek and masterful throwback to the classic Chicago soul & blues upon which TheLoveofPpl.’s sound is built. It features devilishly polished verses from both Blake and Anai and wistful violin melodies by Blank Face Villain, an accomplished violinist in his own right, having recently played alongside Johan Lenox on the Chicago leg of his tour.
