We came across Bounaly's music through instagram and started up a relationship, agreed to put out these songs on our humble label. We're all very excited to share these songs, and even more excited to bump them year round.
Bounaly (Ali Traoré) was born in 1994 in Niafunke from a Bambara father and a Songhoy mother. He sings in many languages including Songhai, Fula, and Bambara. He started his career in Niafunké which is the city of the late Ali Farka Touré and his own uncle, Afel Bocoum. After fighting in Northern Mali intensified, he came to settle in Bamako to make be able to continue making music.
