London summertime won’t start in June


well, i was born and raised in the South of France ,
and it is part of the culture there to enhance

the time dedicated to eating
sitting and resting

because clocks melt in the afternoon
the sun only hides once in a blue moon

so you’ve got to embrace relativity
with relaxed activities
that’s how it is

shadows of palm tree leaves
landing on shirtsleeves

shoes off, freeing toes
lavender for mosquitoes
olive oil on tomatoes

kilometres of fruit platter
litres of sparkling water,

cubes of ice, lemon slices
rays of sun in glasses


at ease, and a light breeze
on the skin carrying the sound
of the sea in the background

perhaps somewhere in Marseille
needless to say
at the terrace of a restaurant
rolled in happiness like a croissant


days can be experienced at a slow pace
plus nobody comes last when you don’t take life as a race


it’s in the seed

to deal with life as a Londoner
constantly on the move like a doner
creating is a gift that i must honour
