Lemonade by Lemonade
Within a year of Angus Tweed's 1993 reunion, the band was losing Roberts at an alarming rate. Dan and I chose to replace them with a Myk and a Matt and, once the distinct character of the new group was apparent, it was time for a change of monicker. Lemonade had been the first in a string of imaginary band names from my childhood, and that pedigree was unintentionally appropriate, given the amateurish, out of tune, goofball nature of the outfit.
To be frank, Lemonade's performances and recordings showed none of its participants in their best light. I, for one, am horribly embarrassed both by my graceless lead guitar work and my poor recording skills.
Having got that part off my chest, I can now proceed to tell you that there are good songs, good times, collaborative sparks and optimistic spirit contained herein. And, of course, this is the beginnings of my friendship with Myk, a seed that would yield tastier fruit down the line.
So whether you were there for the live shows or the acoustic open mic appearances, remember "I Wanna Be Like Beatle Bob" from The Point's morning show or just want to hear the lighter side of my musical journey, I give you LEMONADE!
