Horse Thief from WILD PONY by Bridget Downey

Well I woke up one morning to find my old horse gone. Saw the red gate open and I knew something was wrong.
I followed tire tracks up that old dirt road. Dust still in the air. Saw her pick up truck that picked him up and took him far from here.
Well I knew that she'd been eyeing him for about a month or so , but I didn't think she'd have the guts to take him to her home

When I find that gal I'll kill her and I'll take back my stud. When I find that gal I'll kill her and I'll take back my stud.

Well it won't be hard to find them , because I know where she lives. It's ain't a big town and there's no one around and there isn't a sheriff who lives, so I'll take things into my own hands. Oh I'll go get my stud. He's always coming back around unless his feet get stuck in the mud. And you know horse russlins a pretty high crime and I ain't wasting my precious time, so I'll follow their trail of tracks and stones and little rocks till I find her home.

When I found them there up in the hills. I had a fire i my eyes in was really to kill I said gal you know there ain't no where to hide.
But what I didn't know was how willing he was to go along for the ride. He was fond of her and I could see the stars dancing in his eyes.
Well that broke my heart right then and there yeah it broke my heart in two I didn't know he had wanted to go so I shot my old horse too.
