Kamama by Carly Harvey
Carly Harvey is an Afro-Indigenous Blues fusion musician based out of Washington, DC. Her first full length album, Kamama, paints an auditory picture of the Blues family tree. While Blues is created from the African American experience, it shares roots in the minor pentatonic melodies of Native American lullabies, flute music, and rhythms of the shuffle heard in stomp dance songs. This Album explores this notion and the inevitable evolution of Blues by extending into the neighboring branches of Soul, Jazz, Funk and Rock. The Leaves will bear the fruit of this alchemical fusion while maintaining the undertones of the Blues scale and feel, finally ending in a full circle back to its roots.
