Beyond Me by Colin D Miller
Written and recorded over a couple of days, Beyond Me started off as a short little guitar riff and gradually blossomed into a Nick Drake inspired acoustic number.
Having been reminded of what home music production was like back in the late 90s, Colin opted to write and record a track on his Zoom H4n Pro, using the multitrack mode. Simplicity was both the key and moto here - no computers, no DAWs and no edits in any takes.
Limited to a basic mixer and four tracks on the Zoom H4n Pro (though, numerous "bounces" were used in the process), all instruments and vocals were recorded using a Shure SM57 mic.
