Duelling Hens (Les Poules Huppées (The Crested Hens)/The Duelists)

The Crested Hens - I learned this emotionally deep tune, composed by Gilles Chabenat, from the students at Celtic Teen Camp, 2017. I fell in love with the melody and the emotions embedded within it, reflecting them as best as possible throughout this arrangement. Fitz masterfully plays the melody in the high range on his hurdy gurdy, bringing even more deep emotion to the tune.

The Duelists - This is one of my favorite non-Trad tunes, composed by Nigel Eaton. Fitz taught me this tune (his version of it) and I fell in love with it because it’s written in Lydian flat seven and is FULL of funky, groovy, and rocking energy. I fully embrace the rock-and-roll vibe in this recording.

Cedar Dobson is a California-born, Dublin-based composer, musician, multi-instrumentalist, and performer.
Specialising in traditional Irish music, Cedar has performed in festivals all across Ireland with her band Tradify. Cedar plays and composes other genres such as jazz, rock, folk, funk, world, classical, and orchestral music
