Tangram from Distelfink by chaircrusher

Made in an AirBNB in Chicago, on my old laptop, strictly in Ableton Live. The drum pattern & synth sounds are on beat with each other but float around without regard for time signature. I wasn’t trying to be too careful when I made this, it can throw off your ear as to where the downbeat lands. But once you catch that wave it has a groove of sorts. The synth voices gyre and weave together. They’re deterministic, repeating patterns that take so long to return to its beginning that it can feel eternal.
