CSC 023 by Show You Suck
Show You Suck is the perfect musician for the Internet Age. With a vast ocean of music, art, movies, and television available to practically anyone on command, the rapper dives in head-first and surfaces with new meanings and narrative constructed from all the symbols and signifiers he picks up.
One would expect a series of tracks called One Man Pizza Party (the most recent of which caps off this CSC single) would be dripping with irony and braggadocio, but Show You Suck instead flips the meaning on a trope straight from our collective media unconscious: a stock aging burnout party animal character becomes a surprising source of introspection.
As heady and postmodern as that may sound, Show You Suck’s performances are an all-out party. His aggressive flow, energetic stage presence, and trap beats whip his audience into a manic blur of stage divers and raised hands. When he’s onstage, the line between a punk and a hip-hop show barely exists.
Show You Suck penned the lyrics for the A-side King of Pizza and built the track with producer Mike Jaxx on the spot at the CSC studio.
