We drove 300 miles to see
The brontosaurus on the side of the road
In love with the interstate and the sun
The car was silent, I felt nearly alone
You caught my subtle glances at you
And with a smile, you confirmed what I feared
I forced my focus back on the road
And sat as stoic as the statues we neared

No stops until our exit appeared
We traded bug eyes as I pulled on the brakes
I looked so chivalrous in my head
As I grabbed your hand, like it was my hand to take
Sun-soaked and desert-baked for an hour
The lightest tone of your hair timidly shown
The softest kiss in Cabazon was ours
We got excited for the prospect of home
