"Limbo District were an early 1980s Athens, Georgia band who never had any releases while they were around. Henry Owings has decided to rectify this situation. So here is their first release. Limbo District display a no wavey edge, while maintaining elements related to other quirky Athens contemporaries like Method Actors. But the sheer stubbiness of their keyboard approach and the typewriterish cluck of the drums is much more New York sounding. This certainly piques my interest in learning more about these guys. Limbo District were a band in Athens for a total of 25 months from April 1981 until May of 1983. The band has been one of my all-time favorite Georgia band ghosts to chase. This lathe single is their debut release. Expect more. Much more. The profits from this particular record will be directed to the newly formed 501(c)3 Chunklet Music Preservation Project. A more affordable version of this entire session will be released this fall.
Production notes: Sleeve printed on French linen stock. Cover photo is uncensored on the actual record sleeve. Back cover tip on individually glued at Chunklet HQ. Rubber stamping all done at HQ, too. Handwritten lyric sheet included from Craig Woodall's lyric book. Organza/ribbon individually tied on each record. Machine numbered edition (in red ink) of 50. No poly bag because we used ribbon instead.
