Yonaguni by Uranium Orchard

This album came at a time of transition within the band. Cameron - our main noise & keys man - moved away and the trio turned to little sister Vanessa to fill that 'augmentation' role, in which she would play a little rhythm guitar and co-sing. It really added something special to the formula and the next album "Knife & Urinal" would see that fully realized.

A few other wandering thoughts: I was still listening to a ton of Byrds records alongside Buddy Holly but I had been enamored with Don Rich/Bakersfield Sound guitar as I recall. I also remember feeling like the band was getting more into 'songwriting' if that makes sense; there felt like a little more intent when it came to approaching the tunes as a craft in itself (as opposed to garage jamming per se).

It was a shame that this record saw such a limited release; we didn't have any money and nobody really cared so I resorted to issuing it myself on cassette. They came out nice and we sold them all (I want to say we did 100 but I would have to check receipts to verify) but all told, I don't think too many people were aware it existed at all - some of our own members had completely forgotten about it as the years went by. We weren't playing live as much at this time and we had certainly long since given up trying to garner any sort of audience (actually I don't ever remember doing that really). Oh well, it's here digitally for the enjoyment of some.
