this is a comeback album after like a year of writer's block, recorded with a microkorg and ableton, stuck on version 9 at the time of 11. written either on piano, or at the computer on the synth

cerebral shot stemmed from the piano, its like jungle with synthetic drums

angel ii V was a breakthrough, probably my best track from this era.

desire is based on stereolab and at the drive in

vamp vamp is a spooky song and was the first song i wrote for this cycle, has roots as a lo fi improv jam like the earlier stuff

a tranquil occasion is a chill waltz written at the computer

vibrant nebula is like a showcase for my favorite patch on the microkorg, some disney shit

star flame was a breakthrough track, mostly becuase of the active drum beats

archangel is a mixture of patches

virtues crush is the most aggressive song, and the only song i made with this string patch i really liked that i shouldve done more with

cherub is microkorg with ym2612 drums

plague is an interlude, and kinda tells you when this is really from, not some dude in the 90s-00s like it may seem

seraph valentine is one of my favorites, took all day, and was taking the written music from being fast, to being laid back. mini masterpiece

chocolate cosmos was a breakthrough, written on the piano, and is supposed to be about being in a field of flowers. still holds up

nagasaki castle dance no. 6 is the 6th song in a series that kept me going through artistic rejuvenation, the first being okinawa on that bad album, whilst being the best song on that album (godzilla vs gamera)

dededededa was an attempt at having psychedelic sound design again, with very different sections. was a breakthrough im not as happy with now

caring excercise is an old warmup based melody i wrote in early 2020. yknow. when i was high as shit so to speak. the named is derived from my interest in music that sounds like it cares about you, or for you, or love songs in music only

tropical gem is one i worked on for a while, the drums have too much going on, and i think the demo is better (its on the first archival album, professional confessional) its like Pulsewidth off selected ambient works 85-92 or its also like tropicalia or mpb

walkin on by is an injoke with my friend tyler from college. we hooked ableton up to a jupiter 6 on a drumset, and by playing those notes, it triggered that drum beat. and it was funny because it sounded like some tough guy g funk thing

the aqua pad holds up, its very mellow, and is where i discovered one of my favorite chord moves that i still use today. its like being at home if you lived aquatically

roman castle was written at the piano

finally at peace was titled that way because i finally returned to music after a while where things were uncertain, and is me on the piano, just some demo i had and liked.

in reflection, i couldve done a piano album instead, but by doing these albums i was able to make good use of my microkorg. most of my troubles were with writing compositions i was happy with and finding artistic identity. my skills and theory knowledge and lateral/experimental songwriting were very stilted from being self taught, and i only knew so much back then, and know more now (musically). ive heard this stuff *(this along with the 2 dynamoog albums) is kinda stilted, "lo fi" or "pet project" sounding, but it think it has some good melodies, beats and chord progression ideas (as well as broader artistically expressed feelings and good vibes)
