Divided Loyalties by Dan Cantrell
These recordings are a collection of original music inspired by modern and historic folk traditions in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and the Balkans. They do not aspire to document a culture or folklore but rather to reflect upon the overwhelming beauty and poignant sorrow that these musical traditions invoke.
The documentary Divided Loyalties directed by Sophia Constantinou produced by True Pictures explores national identity and immigrant identity through the bittersweet personal stories and the history of the fractured and somewhat desecrated island of Cyprus.
