I wrote this sketch the day after going to the San Francisco women's march, one of many that took place alongside the Women's March on Washington January 21, 2017. Thousands upon thousands of people spanning every generation, nationality, gender, sexuality, and class came together to march in solidarity for equality, unity, and love. It was the largest demonstration simultaneously exercised around the globe on a single day in history. The experience inspired a deep sense of hope that I had not felt for a long while. This music is an attempt at capturing that feeling.
Danny Paul Grody is a founding member of both San Francisco based bands Tarentel & The Drift. He is a self taught guitarist, and the melodies at the core of Danny’s songwriting bring to mind his love of West African kora, Takoma style fingerpicking and all things minimal, repetitive & hypnotic.
