The Raven by David Brewster
Instrumental music tribute to the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
A dark, twisted, and (at times) evil sounding musical ride, all set to the eerie themes that surround Poe's body of work and legacy.
The Raven was recorded in my home studio in Louisville, KY and Bloomington, IN from 2009-2010.
At the time of the recording sessions for this album I was reading a large collection of Edgar Allan Poe's work, and the two worlds eventually blended together.
I created some spoken word samples of a few key phrases of Poe's work, and found the results inspiring.
Since this albums completion, I've found that it works wonderfully as a soundtrack while reading Poe's work - dark, melodic, and full of angst.
