Lost Sea by Dead Mire

A collection of experimental, noisy sounds and versions of Dead Mire songs written from 2013-2016, that were recorded by Emily Pragano in a bedroom in Portland, in March of 2016. It includes electric and acoustic instruments, lo-fi tape samples, effects and vocal layers, as well as field recordings of things like church bells on a rainy day in Seattle, autumn winds kicking up sand at the Oregon coast, and early morning birds echoing out in an overcast, rural Portland neighborhood.

The record was slated to release in the summer of 2016, but the original plan to have it mastered fell through, and the album later abandoned due to feeling it could have been better. Continuing to work on new music until tapering out after the last live performance in 2019 -- ultimately the project went on a hiatus for the most part since 2021, due to various personal challenges which simultaneously occurred.

With intents to record and release new music by the end of 2025, it was decided on a whim in late January 2025 to revive what was already created and finally share it; a symbolic letting go of the past in a sense, in order to move on and start fresh -- continuing on with the goal to keep releasing a backlog of old music, as well as to keep writing and recording new music with a fresh perspective.

As a long time friend in the music community, as well as a fan of his music project, Drowse, it was decided that Kyle Bates would be the perfect addition to the record with his final mix and master.

Since only a digital version is currently available, a limited run of a corresponding 8 page, 5x7" printed zine was created to accompany the album. All artwork, photos, and lyrics by Emily Pragano.
