Souvenirs by Dick Loftin
"If you enjoy Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon, Jim Croce, John Prine or Kris Kristofferson, I think you will like the songs on “Souvenirs.”
When I heard “The Boxer,” by Simon and Garfunkel in 1969, I was inspired by the three-finger folk guitar playing style. This gave me a form of music I enjoyed and loved to play. In 1972, I heard the “Don Quixote” album by Gordon Lightfoot. Lightfoot set me on a path I follow to this day. His writing gave me a forum, a method, a way to write songs. As the years passed, I had quite a collection.
In 2020, I was diagnosed with liver disease. It was serious, and I worried if anything happened to me, the songs would vanish and no one would hear them. In 2021, I had a liver transplant. While I was recovering, I realized I needed to get these songs recorded. “Souvenirs” is the result.
Music has always played a major part in my life, and I felt like I had been given a second chance. I am a grateful and blessed man.
