Oregon Ave by Dreamed the Northerner
More than 600 miles away from home a story was being told on a hill. And on that hill, above the foothills of the Ohio valley where the smoke stacks can be seen from the alley, there was a house. And outside the back door of that house, there was a porch where the smoke would rise into the humid summer night and fireflies would flash through the backyard. And as fireworks and gunshots came from opposite directions, somebody on the corner of Oregon Avenue could have sworn they heard the slight turn of a record, and a song being played. And in that house on the corner of Oregon Avenue there was a basement. And in that basement, there were two lowly roofers with ripped blue jeans and hammers humming a song deep into the morning. And In the house on the corner of Oregon Avenue, those two lowly roofers became two dreamers. Two dreamers whose destination was 1500 miles west, where the gold paints the valley.
