I have a friend who is in a bad place mentally and emotionally and has been for a long time (surprisingly enough not the one that there's almost four songs about). It's frustrating to see them work to push toxicity out of their life and then cave back into codependency and lose all of the progress they made, even if it's not that much. This song is about my frustration with and fear of that. I worry about them a lot because they're barely functional and I fear that I'll lose them one day. I was afraid to be more direct when I needed to be for a while because I was afraid they'd cut me out of their life. I want to be able to do as much I can to help them.
