Trees have played a prominent role in mythology, legend and folklore throughout the ages. In mythologies around the world the annual cycle of death and revival of tree foliage is seen to symbolise growth, death and rebirth. Trees also appear as symbols of wisdom, fertility, healing and nourishment.
They play a significant role in many spiritual beliefs where they are often depicted as being portals between mortal life and the afterlife.

Trees also have a strong presence in the world of the supernatural where they have been deeply woven into folklore surrounding magic and the occult.

In Arboribus explores this timeless fascination with these mysterious giants of the forest. The contributing artists were invited to find a tree with an associated mythology that inspired them, and to create a piece of music that reflected the story.

The resulting album is a wonderfully atmospheric journey deep into the forests of the imagination.
