Written and recorded in an eight week period, and uncharacteristically employing the same acoustic set-up for each song, Winter has proved to be one of the most accessible D & D albums.

6. English Rose: chorus came in a dream.
7. Little Grey Bird: gets left behind in an English Winter when the rest of it’s flock migrates.
8. I Loved A Lass: traditional Scottish folk song.
9. The Long Winter Witch: contains lyrics from “The Song of Amergin” (British calendar poem).
10. The Shortest Day: about a girl who takes Winter for her lover.
11. Locking Up: a churchwarden locking up.
