cookies baked with cutters, cookie cutters pull the shutters
over eyes that dare to flutter beneath sheets under the covers
my lashes blink like razors cutting through the down filled pillows
ripping feathers through the bedroom like a secret slumber party

out of the oven comes the cookies
perfectly uniformed tucked and bowing
to the labels, to the suits
to the television hands and knees, screaming
