Recorded daily in the great hall of a medieval tower in the Puy-de-Dôme mountains, France, this cassette is a sonic diary of a month-long residency. Found and repurposed objects become percussion—assembled into fragile, raw instruments. There is no narrative, only a succession of events shaped by the acoustics of the space: a music of flux, of dry, shifting textures in constant mutation.
Usually working with a light solo setup, Charles this time filled the space with constructions, entanglements, and objects of all kinds, performed publicly only once over a weekend. These recordings remain as a trace.
Charles Dubois is a percussionist, performer, and visual artist based in Angers, France. In his solo work and within various groups, he explores paradoxical sound territories—balancing organic textures and repetitive motifs, mechanical movements and raw sonic matter. His practice of acoustic, all-terrain percussion brings together a collection of found, prepared, and handmade objects, interacting physically and sonically with the spaces they inhabit.
