Again and again we collectively feel a sense of powerlessness within

Destruction in all vicinity, Ana yet again blowing the gift of destructibility
Luxury to Hollywood vicinity, massive plight of evacuees yet minimal publicity for those house free
Shared lists of what to bring provides a modicum of comforting
Yet in reality it’s only your life worth saving

Check-ins from loved ones afar leads me to speak up out of necessity
Can we envision a new way of accountability
Seales said we need resolve, aligning pain with purpose
Together we wreck the illusion that from the top only comes the right solution

The angels are surrounded by a fiery hell
Bandaid trying to use the ocean as an extinguishing well

Organizations like Goatlandia serving our animal kin
People rescuing and fostering pets, everyone able is pitching in
Inmates been fighting the global consequence of drought
Receiving recognition but deserve a second chance when they come out

This is our new reality and we’re scared yet we can still have hope and hold onto this duality
Together just like when the pandemic hit, we learned to help one another so I know together we can all strive for better
