Sensing by Blanket Swimming

"Sensing began as a collection of electric guitar sketches, recorded in the Spring of 2022. I returned to the material again and again throughout the year, listening. I brought my portable recorder with me on weekly bike rides along Mill Creek, gathering sounds, place-memories, environmental occurrences… re-contextualized and transformed by the recording device and software manipulation. I improvised by the Sevenmile Creek near my home with sticks, leaves, and natural debris. I layered these recordings with the guitar and painted over with synthesizer until fluid form emerged. Sensing is a continuation of the sound of Blanket Swimming, everchanging and flowing. It is my hope that these pieces may offer you a moment of reflection and an opportunity to become immersed in the imaginative realm."

Blanket Swimming is Nicholas Maloney, a sound artist from the American South. Since 2015, they have produced ambient music under the moniker Blanket Swimming, focusing on spontaneity, fluidity, texture, and presence. Maloney curates the labels Asonu, Warm Milk Recordings, and operates their self-publishing banners, Open Colour Imprint and o/(0c)/i.

élan vital recordings is independent Macedonian music label releasing limited edition of handcrafted CDs and tapes from international artists focused on obscure aspects of sound, accompanied with carefully created artwork and video art.
