Walking down the street with a bird’s eye view
And if you don’t mind it I’ll be looking at you
Are you famous, are you sad
Is there a secret that I can have

Writing it down and making it real
Skipping the step where I remember to feel
How does it sound when I say it out loud
Landing a plane three feet from the ground

There’s no mystery to me
I’m pretty much everything you see
I try to pretend you’ll never know me
But you know me
It’s so easy

Is there anything left to protect
If so, I’ll give it away again
How could you ever trust me
There’s nothing above me
I don’t care about sacred
If it’s a good story for me
If it’s a good story for me

You wouldn’t believe it but once it was true
I couldn’t talk and so I couldn’t move
Well-behaved child, well-practiced at lying
Slept through the night as a baby, no crying

I made it out and so I make it up
A self-serving poet and it isn’t enough
Even now my own words run me out
The verse is too crowded I can’t put it down

There’s no mystery to me

If I find out that you don’t like it
I can write it different
It’s so easy
