Lyrics
There's a line on Winter's palm
between Boston and Montreal
A lonely, frozen highway
in the pines
There lovers will collide
some say the road's alive
and the flurries in your headlights
hypnotize
They say it freezes
In the middle of the road
and the ice is a mirror for the sky
Where the stars are a crowd
as the moon is shouting out:
'for heaven's sake you shouldn't drive tonight'
But she is driving
at 145 miles an hour
down the frozen mountain side
And she is hoping
that the message she intended
got recorded before her cell phone
blipped and died
He is driving
in a Northerly direction
smiling at the imminent surprise
of his arrival
on her doorstep
in what is now only a couple of hours time
There's a hoot from an owl
signs rearrange their vowels
cat's eyes in the road begin to wink
but we stubborn human beings
see only what we want to see
and sometimes don't read signs until too late
They say it freezes
In the middle of the road
and the ice is a mirror for the sky
Where the stars are a crowd
as the moon is shouting out:
'for heaven's sake you shouldn't drive tonight'
'for heaven's sake you shouldn't drive tonight'
