Lyrics

“What Remains?”
[Verse 1]
We shared almost every day
No evening ever felt too long
No plan too small, no thought too strange
The world felt open, young, and loud
Sometimes just a look would do
A half sentence, a short walk
And everything was clear
A kind of trust that’s hard to find again
[Chorus]
What remains – of all that back then?
The nights we talked, we laughed, we simply were
Twenty years – and now it’s gone
As if that time had never been
You have your life, I have mine – no blame
Just the question: Why does friendship fade so easily with age?
[Verse 2]
We hardly meet, we barely talk
And if we do, it stays surface-deep
All the things that once had weight
Are buried now beneath routines
You’ve got a family, I’ve got time
Maybe too much of it
And sometimes I just wonder
Why there’s no room for what we had
[Chorus]
What remains – of real connection?
Of knowing someone, not just what they do?
We speak of the past like it was someone else
But it was us – we were right there
Now it’s about what works – job, partner, rules
But what about friendship? Isn’t that enough too?
[Bridge]
They say friendship is the strongest bond
Stronger than love, deeper than blood
But if that’s true –
Why is it so easy to lose?
[Final Chorus]
I don’t write this out of sentiment
But because I want to understand
If it’s just me thinking this
Or if you, too, ever wonder:
What remains?
And what was it really worth to us?
