Shaped by an array of vintage tape machines, Reel Landscapes is Isostatic’s most textural release to date, featuring nine immersive, analog-rich ambient soundscapes.
"Each track on the album started with a live take to tape, capturing a distinct texture and warmth," says Isostatic. "I soon realized it’s not just the tape saturation that I find inspiring — it’s the entire tape workflow. There’s an inherent unpredictability, especially when working with loop tapes, that often results in happy accidents and beautifully imperfect sonic moments."
Across the album’s nine tracks, pieces like Hills and Dales, Haystack Reveries, and Splendid Isolation evoke vivid images of the English countryside on a serene spring morning. Infused with warmth and a touch of nostalgia, each composition radiates a soothing sense of tranquility and optimism.
With Reel Landscapes, Isostatic invites the listener into a world where texture, memory, and imperfection intertwine. The warmth and organic movement of tape and the unpredictability of analog recording give the album a sense of life, both fleeting and timeless.
