Entheogenics by Fantishow

Ascended Ape theory holds that proto-humans, while foraging for food, stumbled upon entheogens, including psilocybin. It's thought that the induced synesthesia of these substances served as a catalyst for them to form the kind of higher faculty thinking we have today. From there, they propagated, forming many mythos and even religious explanations for the shamanistic trips of their ancestors.

I made the title track mainly with a Yamaha Portasound PSS-460, which looks like a cheap toy, but is legitimately my favorite vintage FM synth ever since it actually has an interface. This track also utilizes my turntables with sound effects discs for the ambient samples heard in the background, a technique that I'm going to use much more going forward.

Every track was recorded in real time in my home studio on hardware which is sequenced either by Ableton or my MPC One. Is This the Way to Be and Ibn Battuta were recorded in the same session which I recorded the night before my apartment completely flooded and I had to move out of Ann Arbor, MI. It's bittersweet to hear some of the tracks from back then, but I'm happy to say I have my footing back and I love where I am now.

The last two tracks are more dance-housey and don't really fit in with the rest, just consider them bonus tracks.
